Hi! Been a while.
I’ve been off in the wilderness, contemplating the impact I’m meant to make, the stories I’m meant to tell. After returning from a sojourn into the heart of darkness, I emerged to learn that, somehow, people are really into Kate Bush all of a sudden.
I was introduced to Kate Bush by my best friend at the age of 17, shortly after we met in our first year at University. At first I didn’t know what to make of it – I was at the zenith of my folk-emo phase, blasting M Ward and Bright Eyes and Rilo Kiley. You can imagine the friction that music had against the operatic, orchestral, conceptual music of Kate Bush. There she was: a young British woman, dressed in a combination Valkyrie armor/pajama outfit telling a story of infidelity and calling it “Babooshka.”

Kate Bush is very, very weird. Who wouldn’t have fallen in love?
It’s been about 14 years since I first learned about Kate Bush, and I want to revisit her now. In the next few issues, I’ll be going through her albums and rating her songs Interesting or Boring – and then comparing the omnibus. A little different from my usual song and dance, but it’s what KB deserves.
